Spoletta:
Sounds so much like home, when I was a kid, and today, as a very confused adult (as Dad said).
THANK YOU!
apart from the obvious -- "you have your mother's nose" and "you got dad's cleft chin" -- do you see any of your parent's behavioral traits and attitudes in yourself?
likewise, do you observe how your own children are 'apples fallen not far from the tree'?
the good, the bad, and the ugly?.

Good replies, too, Schnufti and sparky!
YES! Telling and retelling the same stories and a tendency to lie . . .
Similarly, I have some traits I'm not yet able to get rid of -- I just hide them, like my cleft chin under a beard!
Be well.

Thanks, schnell, for your reply.
Maybe, someday, you'll have a few recollections on your and your father's similarities.
Best wishes.

Nature and nurture?
I welcome your comments.
Thanks.
is it just me who doesnt see the point of this ?
from time to time we see some individual who takes up page after page arguing his or her point of view and it usually ends up with only 2 or 3 individuals who keep the talkfest going with a particular individual and nobodys getting anything out of it .. why bother ?
why get sucked in to such a pointless dialogue ?

Well put, Juan Viejo2!
Thanks for responding.
Very disappointed, indeed!

This brings to mind what I hadn't thought of in years. In the TV show, Dr. Kildare, the young doc orders a transfusion for an ailing JW, and Dr. Gillespie reprimands him for violating the patient's rights and wishes.
My, that was YEARS ago!

Good one, steve2!
Thanks, and you're welcome! Of course, the snarky repartee between the characters is so tongue in cheek that you might almost miss the foot in the door . . .
which world is this?_________________when the doctor pulled my screaming body out of mom all those 7 decades ago, i landed in a post-wwii world.it was--compared to today's world--an alien planet.. the world i live in today has nothing in common with the world in which i grew up.. there were no cell phones back then--there were black telephones with a dial-tone and an operator who placed your call.
everywhere you found telephone booths!
a call was a nickle.where did all those telephone booths go?i dunno.where did my whole world go?i dunno.. tv sets were huge boxes with tubes and small screens.
I sure do miss phone booths. It just isn't the same with a cell phone.

when i was young everybody used to fantasise constantly about how brave we would all need to be "when the persecution comes".
we worried about what "they" would do to us and how we would never talk or betray other jws.
psychologically it was a damaging environment for children; but maybe that's another topic.. who would have thought that when it finally came it would take the form of being sued for protecting pedophiles.
Hi, cofty:
I posted a thread some 9 or 10 years ago about persecution. The congregation was talking about the pounding we'd get when we handed out the newest tract, that ripping the churches and the clergy.
Nothing happened . . .
